International Congress on Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis
ADIPSO has been organising since 1998 an international congress on psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis with the support of the main Italian authorities. The Congress is held every two years.
The congress – now a must of the sector – focuses on information on the latest treatments for Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis and at creating an interaction between Patients, Medical Specialists, Politician and Health Professionals.
This Congress is one of a kind. The last day is dedicated to a round table attended by patients and doctors answering questions on all aspects of the disease.
World Psoriasis Day
On 29 October 2004, WHO established the World Psoriasis Day. This is a significant moment to make the public aware of a disease with a great social impact.
Since then, ADIPSO has been present with its meeting points in many Italian towns every year. The goal is not only to meet patients, but also to explain to common people that psoriasis is not contagious, but that it is a severe disease with a great social impact.
We also take the opportunity to distribute information leaflets, booklets and the so-called Psoriasis Poster - prepared by European Associations – illustrating the rights of psoriatic patients.
Interaction between Doctors and Patients
ADIPSO organises meetings in Italian Hospitals between specialists and patients to improve their relationship and establish a positive confrontation aimed at a better management of the disease.
During the meetings patients explain to doctors their doubts and issues regarding the treatments to be used.
This kind of meeting also improves the knowledge of the disease and this allows patients to collaborate better with their doctor and help them establish together the most suitable and effective treatment.
